How to find your bra size at home

It is easy to wear the wrong bra size for years. Finding the right one takes a tape measure, two numbers and about two minutes.

What you need

  • A soft tape measure
  • An unpadded bra, or no bra
  • A mirror, so you can keep the tape level

How do I measure my bra size?

The band should sit level all the way round.
  1. Underbust. Measure directly below your bust, where the band of a bra sits. Keep the tape snug and level, and breathe out naturally.
  2. Bust. Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Let the tape rest gently, without squeezing.
  3. Hips (for your bottoms). Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.

Round to the nearest whole centimetre. Our size guide works in cm and inches.

How do I read the size chart?

Start with your underbust: that gives your band size. Then find your bust measurement next to it: that gives your cup.

The Phoenix Balcony Bra is underwired and sized by band and cup:

Size Underbust (cm) Bust (cm) FR US
70B 68-72 84-86 85B 32B
70C 68-72 86-88 85C 32C
70D 68-72 88-90 85D 32D
75B 73-77 89-91 90B 34B
75C 73-77 91-93 90C 34C
75D 73-77 93-95 90D 34D
75E 73-77 95-97 90E 34DD/E
80B 78-82 94-96 95B 36B
80D 78-82 98-100 95D 36D
80E 78-82 100-102 95E 36DD/E
85D 83-87 103-105 100D 38D

The June and Pixie bralettes are wire-free and come in XS to XL. The same two measurements point you to your size in the size guide.

In every set, you choose your bra and bottom sizes separately.

How should a bra fit once it's on?

  • The band sits level at the back and feels snug on the loosest hook. It does the supporting, not the straps.
  • The cups hold you without gaps or spilling over the top edge.
  • The wire (on Phoenix) follows the base of your bust and lies flat against you.
  • The straps stay in place without digging in. A strap that slips usually needs a small adjustment, not a new size.

What if I'm between sizes?

For a balcony bra, let your underbust lead and choose the band that feels snug, not tight. For a bralette, the softer fit is forgiving, so choose the size that matches most of your measurements.
